DRIVING FORCE OF PROPOSALS
As a global and all-encompassing map, this document intends to summarize different progressive production and communication levels of excellence research within the context of the project: "Cathedral Cities: Memories, Landscapes and Identitarian Heritage of Europe". This academic research is developed and set into motion with a clear social impact. Its goal is reached at five different levels of knowledge and awareness that happen to be related to one another and operate in a sequence to foster social inclusion, that is, the appropriation and emotional identification by the citizens and other social agents with a heritage which is monumental, immaterial and secular and is present at the historical centres of towns with cathedrals in Catalonia and, in fact, in the whole of Europe. This heritage remains fragile, it is not well known and has not been adequately protected, although it unveils the European identity of the historical centres of our towns and their dwellers. It has made those centres real, meaningful and purposeful.

Aquest document sintetitza, com una cartografia global i comprensiva, els nivells de progressius de producció i comunicació de la recerca d’excel·lència del projecte “Cathedral Cities: Memories, Landscapes and Identitarian Heritage of Europe”. Amb aquesta eina es visibilitza que una recerca acadèmica es desenvolupa i es posa en marxa amb un nítid objectiu d’impacte social.
La finalitat és arribar, mitjançant cinc nivells de coneixement i consciència vinculats de manera causal i concatenada, a un horitzó socialment inclusiu: l’apropiació i identificació emocial per part de la ciutadania i d’altres actors socials del patrimoni monumental, immaterial i secular present als centres històrics de les ciutats catedralícies de Catalunya i, de fet, de tota Europa. Aquest fràgil patrimoni, encara no ben conegut ni adeqüadament protegit, desvetlla la identitat europea dels centres històrics de les nostres ciutats i dels habitants que els van fer realitat i els quals avui continuen donant-los sentit i propòsit.
